It is currently only 1/4” like the rest of the boat but has strong glass that’s doubled up. It’s pretty stiff for a 20lb trolling motor but anything bigger It will need to be built up quite a bit but couldn’t decide how to do it before the build. I like the bolting idea. And a jack plate is a great idea too.

We just glued and screwed a 2x12 to the transom to mount mud motors.

I bought a Honda 2.3 hp air-cooled motor for my 8 footer. Pushes it along pretty good. I used a chunk of 2×8 to hang the motor on.

That’s what I’d love to buy...eventually. So lightweight. $1k new though, ouch. Do you have the 2x8 bolted into a 1/4” transom or is your transom thicker to start with? Also, does it go vertically all the way to the bottom of the boat? Do you attach from the bottom too?

I did not run the 2×8 all the way down. The transom is 1/2 ply and I have a rear deck of 1/2 ply also. I put a couple shelf brackets between the motor mount (2×8) and the rear deck for added support.

Got the same seat as above. I put a burlap sack over it while hunting. Very comfy.

MQ, could you tell me who makes the seat or where you got it?

I use a momarsh invisilounge seat. It looks the same as that seat but is camo. It's like $100 though.

A hundo isn't bad, especially if it improves comfort.
Too bad they do not make black or grey.
