I only spent 10 minutes building that blind which is 5 minutes more than usual.
I know public land is public but

Quickest way to ruin a good duck spot is to build a blind on it!
We build blinds, all are natural cover. Some are gonna be unavoidably obvious to another duck hunter, but the other less desirable option is to just not hunt it. Others we take care to make sure they aren't unless you stumble into it. One spot will get hunted from time to time, but not our blind. More than once we've have people build their own within 40 yards off either side and seemingly not notice ours. One of the better and oldest ones has never knowingly been hunted by another party. It's a "plug & play" blind. Literally walk in and load up.
I thought I was being smart one year with the "unavoidably obvious" type. I had scouted a spot where an open boat blind is pretty much required. Nobody hunted those birds all weekend. I was there for the week and was keeping the spot in my back pocket as my partner in crime was driving up Tues. I waited until Sunday evening when I figured everyone had packed it in. I loaded the boat up with some poles and some brush and went to work. That would limit the time spent on site and give the blind a day+ to "soak" if the birds needed it to.
Unknown to me, someone saw me head in with cover in the boat and investigated. Tuesday the water around the blind was littered with hulls. They pulled in with an uncovered boat and shot the f*$% out of it. I knew who it was and gave their place a drive by on the way back to camp (just so they knew I knew). They went home that day and it never happened again, but it was a super dick move and they knew it.
The problem with lazy folks with bad attitudes is some of them will suddenly work very hard to solve their curiosity if they think there's a reason you're going back there. It doesn't matter the reason.

I dont get it the guys destroy them. Jealous, envious, jerks!
A buddy and I had a sweet coffin blind on a bare island, we could cover them up with sand and they were gone. Other knew we were hunting there, some hunters even put decoys on our sand mounds
A long-time retired guide suggested I set up a stilt blind on Vancouver Lake in Washington State. We built our own little island and placed a few hundred trees. Shooting platform was 10 feet above the water.
Boat parking was below.
We knew others had been hunting the blind,,, . No biggie
One foggy morning we had placed 250 decoys, I told my buddy someone else was looking for the blind and we needed to be quieter.
They found us. Two guys and the one guys' young son. The one fellow wanted to flip a coin. We had decoys set, and all but us and the boat in the blind. I had started to offer to let them hunt with us. The boat driver ( with the boy) and I were just visiting. In the meantime, my partner and the other fellow were getting amped up,. My partner and the other guy started to verbally go at it,, then both men started heading for each other.
The other boatman and I both reversed our boats. Both guys wanted to mix it up, nearly ending in the water.
A few days later, I was surprised that the blind was still there. by the end of the week there wasn't any sign that the blind had even been out there
That weekend my partner redeemed himself We ended up being the sole hunters on the largest dairy in the county.
Fast forward 25 years later. My buddy is at a law enforcement fundraiser. All the men at the table were avid hunters.
This one fellow started relaying the story, bragging, some with added alcohol enthusiasm the story had changed a bit, and embellishing even more.
The story gets longer and better

No, my brother, you don't get it.
You don't get it because you don't hunt where we hunt.....the same as I follow your posts because you don't hunt like I do, and it's interesting to me.
If you hunt public where I hunt, don't leave a blind. There are enough people that already know where you are.
I've never killed a duck on public ground...or private, for that matter, so don't pizz me off.
