My wife and Were riding up a road and asked a group of deer hunters about moose
The one fellow showed us the pic on his phone of a “huge bull.”
Once in the area we pulled up to a couple guys that had just retrieved a little 4x4 buck
They pointed to the bull just down the road

my wife and I checked out the bull
I had ranged him From the road, 35 yards
I got output the sneak on him at 25 yards I turned around and walk back to the pickup

we stopped to visit with the guys and the buck.
The one fellow commented why didn’t you shoot him

I told him that wasn’t the memory of a once in a lifetime bull moose that I wanted

    the other fellow
    Smiled

“you just made me $10 I knew it would be too easy for you”

I totally understand that. That’s sort of my feelings. I’ve done all the research myself and talked to people but for a once in a lifetime tag, I want it to be a cool experience regardless of how big it is.

How’s the smoke in Idaho? I am finally breaking free and headed over. Had some horrible luck with our family getting covid right before the opener and it made us quarantine but now we are cleared to go. Hopefully my luck now will begin to change.

Couple fires around Orofino, but smoke mostly confined to the river valley. This weekend still looks warm, but long term looks nice after Tuesday. Dry and crunchy as heck in the woods.

It seemed it was so wet and man the last month and a half it got dry super quick.

First trip went well. No moose down but I fully expected it. Did find a cow moose and our goal was to at least see one. Covered an insane amount of ground and now have a game plan for the next trip. It’s pretty warm and dry still. The smoke never helps. The long term forecast looks good though.
