In lieu of the recent bad news from up North

    When you call in it, you don't know where it is from.

    If its an AP bird, in the books it is shot where it was supposed to be shot, rather than where it was actually shot.

    Hey Montauker - Can you put VA on that graph. We are going to get tarred with the same brush as MD when restrictions occur but I suspect we shoot a fraction of the AP birds that they do.

    I predict a lot of AP geese will be killed by people from Maryland "while they're hunting in NY" this spring.

    A few points- the top chart is only the regular season take and does not include early or late resident seasons. I am not sure if the bottom chart includes those seasons, if it does it is likely the driver for NY being higher than MD. They kill a lot of residents in early season- the past five years they have averaged 49,340 in the early season vs MD's average of 6360.

    Spot on Montauker. VA hunters will have to watch tons of geese for most of the season because MD kills enough to drive the regulations. Regardless of origin, VA has been posting some really high winter Canada goose numbers the last several years. We just don't shoot as many as the fellas north of us.
