Hello.
I made a duck blind last year, but I noticed that the raffia is coming off very easily. I was wondering if anyone has ever hot glue the raffia to there blind before? Also what do you think of this idea? I used plastic fencing to build my blind with a camo tarp, so I don't think it will melt the fencing.

I also use zip ties and they still come off.

Are you storing blind covered so weather doesn't deteriate raffia and zip ties. And are you using black ( UV resistant) zip ties. I,ve got boat blinds made of cordura nylon with Raffia zip tied to grassing straps that are 10 years old that have no issues. Blinds roll up and store along gunnel during non use during season and are dried if get wet hunting. Boat is tarped between hunts so that blind doesn,t stay wet from rain. Travel is done in the rolled up position and raffia is rolled to the inside. After season they,re stored in a building.

Use wooden clothespins, run a small zip tie through the hole in the spring then around a bunch a raffia. Then just pin to your grassing straps. Then you can take it off or move from blind to blind.

Interesting idea but once it’s on the blind it stays. Bought like a 15 pound bundle of the stuff years ago that I dyed a variety of marsh colors. Still have plenty left after doing a 14 foot boot and a couple ground blinds.
After using the boat, once I get home I set the blind back up, let it dry in the sun or wind, roll the raffia grass back up in the blind and in the garage or tarp it. Stuff lasts a long time.

I tied it to the plastic fence on my boat blind and it stays on at freeway speeds
