Shooting geese in shorts and T-shirts in New Zealand. I really like watching hunting in other countries. Seems we all have that common thread in our ventures.

Honkers in your face. Nice stiff wind, geese floating like pillows, shooters doing it right.

I just skimmed through it, but couldn't find the part where a dolt yelled "Make a pile!"

Thats some good action and excellent shooting. You can subscribe to their DNR Newsletter. https://fishandgame.org.nz/ The seasons starts in a few days. They are phasing out lead shot. https://fishandgame.org.nz/game-bir...nting-regulations/non-toxic-shot-regulations/

"If you're hunting waterfowl (swans, geese, ducks and pukeko), MORE THAN 200metres from a water body, which is taken as any stream, river, lake or tidal area, "more than 3m wide," you can continue to use lead shot, if you wish. Lead shot that falls on land away from water is not a significant risk to waterfowl" VERY SENSIBLE TO ME.

" The Government originally proposed that ALL lead shot be banned for all activities, including ALL upland gamebird hunting, ALL clay target shooting and ALL farm pest control. Fish & Game was successful in having this extreme requirement softened.

The 200m rule recognises that lead is not a problem away from waterways. " AGAIN , VERY SENSIBLE. WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HUNT GEESE IN FARM FIELDS THAT HAVE NO WATER IN AMERICA .

New Firearm Bans since the event Masque Killings:
    Prohibited firearms parts and magazines
    Prohibited firearms are:

    • All semi-automatic firearms(including semi-automatic shotguns), but:
      • excluding rimfire rifles .22 calibre or less as long as they have a magazine (whether detachable or not) that holds 10 rounds or less; and
      • excluding semi-automatic shotguns that have a non-detachable, tubular magazine that holds 5 rounds or less.
    • Pump action shotgunsthat:
      • Are capable of being used with a detachable magazine; or
      • Have a non-detachable tubular magazine capable of holding more than 5 rounds.
Only a person who meets one of the exemption categories and who has applied for and obtained a new endorsement and permit to possess may lawfully possess a prohibited firearm.

It's not really all that sensible though because you are obviously hunting where waterfowl want to be and they eat that **** up.

So geese when they feed in farm fields have their beaks sift thru mud like ducks on the water, or are they eating corn , soy, grass etc and not sifting thru mud?

Would think much depends on whether they're also picking up grit where they eat.
