To the guys leaving out of state... did you just abandon your parents and family or did they come with you? My wife and I just cant up and leave our jobs, parents, whole life...Its just not that simple.
Grow old like me and you are the last of your clan. Both my wife parents and my parents crossed the Rainbow bridge, our kids live in other states, got one brother here and one across the country. No reason to stay.
We did the math on this place, and almost everything from heat, electric, garbage was 50% less or more than California Prices. Fuel prices 25% less or more in savings, vehicle registration about 20-25% what I’m paying here.
When we drove into the neighborhood to check this house everybody on the street waved, and I only saw 2 Teslas the whole time I was there, that was the deal sealer!

Born here die here. My kids are here and staying grandkids are still here who knows where they will end up. Some family and friends have moved on, I don't hear a dam thing that would change my mind. Plus 70 is right around the corner I'm happy here. Moving doesn't get rid of the BS you'll just find new BS to deal with.
My hunting and fishing license, all that went with that, upland game, over the counter deer and elk cost me a total of $47. Yep, this place has it's own set of issues, but cost of hunting and fishing isn't one of them. The block management program here provides free access to a bazillion acres of private land, there's lots of federal land, and dependent upon where you are, access to hunt geese is easy. Last year I hunted a total of about 8-10 hours, and killed an antelope, an elk, and 6 deer. We only buy beef when rib eyes go on sale. :l

There is no perfect place...none. You guys put up with crap politics and "fees" through the azz, I put up with periods of -40 lows. It all boils down to what you are willing to put up with to stay wherever you are.

Close to where I hunt
I can only say , this is this Crummy States way of making it more difficult for hunters and shooters !
There's plenty of opportunities in near by states for hunting and until we get theses Liberal retards out of office , my money is going elsewhere !
I would rather spend it on fuel , than give it to Stupidity !

I keep waiting but with all the people that have or supposedly are moving out of CA , why can't I find a decent second blind at a reasonable price.

Like anything, it is about attitude, I quit long ago bitching and whining about things I couldn't control. Everyday I wake up as I just turned 60 and started the 4th quarter, is a blessing. I shoot enough ducks and geese, ski couple times a year, go to the ocean, catch fresh fish in the ocean or bay (halibut, rock fish and crab) yes things are more expensive but I am not shoveling snow, worrying about a tornado, -40 for 3 days and every pipe outside freezes up, 90% humidity, hurricanes, snakes and alligators when hunting, and access is being lost or becoming much more expensive everywhere. It is the classic half full or half empty.

This will be the pup's first year hunting, so it will be a fun time.

So I spent 216.32 total for my fishing and hunting license. It is by far the cheapest thing I do when it comes to hunting and fishing. You guys sound like whining little kids. I hunt and fish year all year. Costs 25 bucks for 2 at fast food and 200 bucks to fill up my truck.

Most of you here make double what you would make anywhere else and you are still complaining.

Yeah California has a ton of problems and has the worst Gooberment in the USA, but don't complain when you take your pile of California money and leave the state. I will tip my hat and say thanks for all the opportunity to make it.

You’ll never get them the liberals out in this state, they As you say “retards“ are the voters. They think they are getting something for nothing, this state has created a welfare state. You have a whole huge class of people that have been brought up thinking that you, the higher income working individual owes them something.
Tiered gas and electric costs by income level (floated by PG&E with political backing) Social Security or unemployment, never paid in, no problem. Here illegally, free medical, free education, free lunch and the state will force somebody to give a reduced priced place to live. California has become a state of more “takers” on the backs of the tax payers.
I’ll be 72 this year, lived in California all my life. California was the land of Milk and Honey, it’s gone, ruined by politicians that care more about their own power than was is good for the state and its working class. Companies are fleeing and anyone that can flee are doing so and taking the “Tax” base with it. California is facing a huge budget shortfall and they are looking for a way to boost revenues and it sure will not be on the backs of the people have their hand out, you don’t want to irritate those who put you in office. The politicians in California only need to look in the mirror to see who ruined this state.

I worked my entire life to move west and hunt the Pacific flyway.
I think its time to buy the lifetime hunting license.
I have friends in the Atlantic Flyway that pay big bucks for leases for less than 1/2 of what our public land produces.
My plan is to leave here in an urn.
