I have had 6 labs so far in this life. All have been females which I have found more biddable than males. All have been spayed, 2 could have made significant contributions to the lab gene pool, but not to be. When I field trialed English pointers, all were female. None of my dogs have been overweight which can happen to a spayed female, exercise and food intake is all that it takes to keep them in shape, they all have been house dogs, much to my wife’s disdain.

Train it to sword fight!

Fella's crazier than me, but you gotta love his dog. Back when some retriever pros thought it a slick trick to zap their trainees off points with cattle prods, a friend's Chessie gained local fame by ripping the prod out of an assistant's hand and repeatedly bumping him with it.

Didn't witness it myself, but tickled me all the more that two of the people I heard about it from claimed to have been that assistant.

Its been 3 years since my lab passed. I was also thinking it was time to get another one.
My wife thinks its time for another baby (We already have 3).
Not sure I'll win that argument....
