Still a few wild pheasant to be found out there. First one came easy, jumped him right off the bat. A few hours later we found another field holding birds. Second one was hard to find in the tall grass, but my springer tracked him down. Anybody else chasing ditch chickens opening weekend? 69B1F93A-A027-46D6-92BD-C8D7621C397A.jpeg

Nice job on the rooster. I do love to pheasant hunt. Wasn't all that many years ago seems like there were still quite a few where I could chase them. So warm today I didn't want to punish myself and my dog.

I was out cashing them Friday and Saturday results were disappointing, I probably could’ve had over a dozen hens but ended up losing my only rooster. He hit the ground running and made it to an overgrown slough.

Lost a couple, steel 4s didn't quite cut it. I'm happy to say I got this guy though.

They may be a little expensive but buy a box of Hevi X 6 shot. They flat crush pheasants and ducks. My experience is they are night and day better than steel 3s and 4s. Don't shoot them that much but they are definitely in the gun when hunting wild pheasants.
