Hey all, as my dad has retired from the military he has some more time on his hands and is slowly getting into waterfowl hunting with me. We are talking about taking a once in a lifetime waterfowl/fishing trip. We looked at Alaska but just aren’t sure how plausible that will be. Other areas we have talked about is the Pacific Northwest? Any other areas or outfitters you guys would recommend? Willing to look all across the US. Would really like to add a bull sprig to my wall if that helps narrow down destinations. Thanks!

If you are interested in a "cast and blast," my first choice would be LA, and the closer to the birds foot, the better. My first choice would be for September teal combined with redfish and speckled trout, but that leaves out the sprig possibility.

Add a bull sprig? Well, the Pacific Flyway would allow good opportunities for that. We have TONS of pintail, even if the Flyway Council tards have gone against science and limited limits to one a day!

Mazatlan or Los Mochis in Mexico for a cast and blast trip.

Definitely best odds of a trophy sprig, lots of shooting in general and great fishing.

Pacific Flyway if the buck sprig is really the goal... but, you said a “once in a lifetime” trip. I don’t know about your expectations for the “lifetime” side of things, but if you’re in IA, truth be told a trip to the west coast isn’t all that far, costly, or difficult and you could easily do it annually if you so desired. If it were me, once in a lifetime would be Mexico or South America. A full boat Arkansas trip with the expensive lodge that hunts on expensive leases would also be in the running.
