The garment industry is so labor intensive it is going to be hard for it to make a comeback here. It is also very sensitive to economic turndowns.
Cheap textile goods from overseas have always plagued this country. It was the root cause of the Civil War.
Not impossible to come back...just difficult.

My first Gore-Tex/Thinsulate camo parka from Cabela's was made in USA! That was in late '70s - early '80's. I'd almost bet it was made by Columbia.
