Just bought this baby through an online estate auction.

Why Not ? My Grabber in 20 ga has been a great upland / clays loader as I leave the nontox to the 600 with a short shell adapter !
A lot can be done with a 650 in the herd !

I have one of those in 20 ga, less of the accessories, on a shelf in my garage. It was on a shelf in my old garage, till I moved it here. Seems I even bought a couple of charge bars for it, but that's as close as I got. I bought it at a yard sale, I don't recall what the price was. Long time on the shelf.

650's are nice loaders and auctions are an excellent way to get Mec loaders at a great price. I have four Sizemasters (12, 20, 28, 410) and two 600 Jr's. (12, 20) that I bought from auctions. I stopped shooting trap tournaments a long time ago so I really don't have a sound reason to have that many loaders other than they were cheap and I can dust them off to load a few boxes every now just for the fun of it.

This one was 12 gauge and bought for $70. Will see what the actual condition is when it gets here. Main thing I’d like to set up to load are 2-3/4” steel duck loads. Something like 1-1/16 of #4 at about 1500. Not only have they become scarce as hens teeth, the price is often higher than 3” shells with bigger payloads.

Never loaded steel. I assume I’ll have to measure the shot by hand, but hopefully the press can do the rest.

Both shot and powder by hand. 32-33 gns of steel powder, any wad, win 209 or equivalent primer, any straight walled hull will give you what you want at 17/16 of #4.

I’m surprised a charge bar won’t work for the powder. What’s the reason? The less measuring the better since I’d be loading several flats per season.

By the way, not arguing. I haven’t reloaded since the 80s, so I have a lot of learning to do before I begin. Good thing is I’m not in a rush. Figure I’ll start putting together a tool and components list for the main duck load I want in hope I can be loading something by October.

You can get a double bushing bar for it. You will have to figure out what size bushings will work for your needs. I am not sure but I am guessing that there will be bushings that will work.
You will like the 650. I have one in 12ga and one in 28ga.

Better start acquiring required powder and primers. Or pick up preprimed 2 3/4" Cheddite's although that's a last resort. Components have become spotty at best if you don,t already have some stashed away.
