Was a crop duster for several years. Scared the crap out of myself several times but only wrecked once. Knew several pilots that died. Life insurance was incredibly expensive.
Also worked in minefields in N Africa. Thousands of mines . Mine clearance ahead of us all the time but still missed a few. A truck hit an anti personal mine and blew the rim off. I wasn’t in it thankfully.
Shot a few million pounds of dynamite but nothing dramatic happened.

I’ve never made a living flying but I’ve gone down the centerline in a Bonanza at 10’ AGL, wide open throttle with the airspeed needle pointed at 225. It probably wasn’t the smartest thing I’ve ever done but when I’m on my death bed I’m going to think about it one last time…….and smile!

I worked on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier during flight ops for a couple months. Infantry, Firefighters, and LEO’s have more dangerous jobs. My wife’s uncle Don was iron worker who worked on the STL Arch, no way I’d climb up that during construction.

Working at the state hospital wasn't particularly dangerous.
We had great training.

I had one student that had a hit out on her and transferring her from the main building to the school was way more than spooky for a few weeks she had armed guards security guards and city police staked out.

We pulled off lots of asbestos siding and lead-based paint siding.
As a beaver trapper I had some close cals but not particularly dangerous..

With the beaver or with the Enviroment? I’m not going to lie, the few times I set the entrance to the den I hoped a 70 pounder wouldn’t come out and take a chunk out of my leg!

Big tire shop,( truck tire put me in the hospital), bridge maintenance, (cables, big equipment, and snakes), armed security, and wildland fire fighter. Some close calls with the last two but I'm still kicking.

Bro, I hear you. Many a night I have stood at the entrance of the den and hoped a 125 pounder wouldn't boil out of that sucker. :l :l

I almost died a few years ago when I was trucking along Hwy 80 gazing out across the fields to my left, when I heard something and jerked my head to the right and saw a crop duster coming right at me. He went under the power lines and across the road damn near across the bed of my truck.

I didn't know whether to crap my britches or have a heart attack.

Nothing close to some of these stories. For a short while ( 2years) I ran the ag greenhouses for a university. The the scary/dangerous part was replacing glass panes on the roof. At least once a week during mowing season a rock would take out a glass pane. Side panes were nothing but the top panes meant climbing on top of the glass with a single aluminum scaffold piece and swapping panes.

Predecessor spent 3 days in the hospital after falling through and getting cut badly. For me the pucker factor was extremely high

Retired fire lieutenant in fire dept. with 28 years of service, have seen and done every thing on the medical.side(gunshots, suicides, hangings, heart attacks, decapitations, motor vehicle collisions) and on the fire side (motor vehicle fires, structure fires, arsons, brush fires, electrocutions) as well as on the fire boat (drownings, vessel fires, marina fires, hypothermias, body recoveries) don't miss one bit of that...do miss my crews though. Its a dangerous job, but I worked with a talented and very knowledgeable group of career professionals...Safety was always our first priority.
