If you ever call the online or off site reservations center and they tell you they have no vacancies then call the hotel/motel directly. Many off site reservations centers are given a block of rooms and when they sell those they have no more to sell. Also if you absolutely need that property guarantee your reservation for late arrival. Otherwise they may “walk” you to another hotel which could put you out in BFE. IMO
When I stayed there they had all the windows siliconed shut, must be a summer thing to keep the humidity out. I was wondering if that is common down there?

I've been living out of the suitcase on and off for business since 1992 and have learned a few lessons about hotels. I've stayed in the roach infested roadside inns to the Ritz-Carlton in Vienna, Bahamas and France, I've seen it all. Since 2015 stateside, the only hotel I will stay in is the Holiday inn Express. They are the only chain that I found that are decently priced and have comfortable beds consistently across the country. The breakfasts are great and the coffee makers rock !! If you get a cheap hotel, you're going to get crappy accommodations.....
