    Hi all,

I’m moving to Abq in October and I’m looking for a hunting partner.

A little bit about me: 30yo. Florida hunter. I generally shoot 60+ ducks a year depending on my work schedule and how good the season is. I have all the usual stuff, dekes mojos etc. I also have a 17’ canoe. I’m used to hiking or paddling at least an hour each way to hunt so I’m not opposed to a little sweat equity.

I’m NOT looking for anyone’s spots! Although a little general info would be nice. For example, are most people hiking in on the rivers or taking boats and shore hunting on the lakes or layout boats? For the lakes, what is the minimum boat size? 17’ semi v? Are mud motors at all useful or are all the lakes pretty deep?

Thanks all! Can’t wait to get in the truck and start finding the ducks!

    Good Morning ljmcz,

You picked a bad year to move to NM. The Rio Grande River is the lowest it has been in years, tough on the 17' canoe. Our lakes are also down this year. PM me when you get to town and I can give you some direction on what the lay of the land is for birds.
