The rib is manufacturing related. Steel ribs rust at the juncture and are not easily replaceable.

What is the advatage (real or supposed) to a carbon rib?
Just that it won't bend?
My guess is cause carbon fiber sounds cool. And it’s prob cheaper. I can’t think of any meaningful advantage. I haven’t had a steel rib rust off any gun I own.

My maxus, sx4 rusted. The new beretta 28ga is already rusting. The camo cynergy was the worst for rusting. I am liking the gun so far except the sight design, super glue seems to have fixed it. If anyone hasnt bent/dented their steel rib then you probably wont have any issues with the fiber one as well.

Kinda timely, as I took a fit to clean my Montefeltro yesterday and found its rib bent. No telling how long it had been that way, but "repair" didn't take a minute.

My camo Cynergy has seen it all. No rust. My 1187 had a little freckling on the barrel. It’s been under salt water. I do hose off my guns with fresh water after most hunts and then wipe them down and let them air dry. Seems to work.

We only hunt salt water and we hunt alot, not every day but most days. I sit in the rocks along the shore and get splash, swell or wet beach grass every day.

Semi-local gun shop had both. The BEST model was quite a bit more. My understanding is it had bells and whistles added to be salt friendly.

I didn't know the rib was carbon fiber until this thread. If it was marketing related, they're doing a bad job.
