Skeeter, not sure what the out of state $100 conservation charge is. It should just be the $10 charge. Also don't know what the out of state bird stamp for $110 is either. Should just be $50 for migratory and $110 for upland. Plus your $15 base license.

No state sales tax or state income tax. Property tax is low as first $150,000 of assessment is waived for us seniors.
Also no property tax if home is in rural towns...
Of the 19 boroughs in Alaska, only 15 levy a property tax.
Only 9 cities located outside of boroughs levy a property tax; therefore, only 24 municipalities in Alaska (either cities or boroughs) levy a property tax.

Plus a free hunting/fishing/trapping license for all residents 60 years or older.

Dang. We'd have done what you're doing, but I doubt I could take a year of that weather in order to establish residency before I could bug out in the winter.

Since we winter south of Polson and hunt on the Flathead Reservation, the other costs are associated with the Flathead Reservation.

even excluding the Migratory licenses, $407 seems high. You sure the $100 Conservation License (vs. $10 Conservation License) is requited to hunt just Upland birds?

Ok now I understand. You pay $211 extra to hunt Flathead Reservation. Still inexpensive compared to playing a whole season of golf ("a good walk spoiled")! Thanks for the clarification.
