my 5 year old had a blast shot at every bird with his red Rider lol
Couple folks around my hood blasted yesterday, and one group blasting this morning. Sounds like they are getting some action. My neighbor with the 80 beside me said he had around 100 on his first year field, Thursday. He shot it yesterday, and it sounded like they wore into them pretty good. Next weekend can’t get here fast enough.
Had a good shoot with a friend I've hunted with for 40 years. Ended up picking up 27 between us. The other 30 or so folks appeared to get roughly the same amount of shooting.
Would've loved to have gone this weekend, but getting a new blind set took priority. We have a lot of brushing to do.
Another good hunt this afternoon limited out and the little one shot his first birds today. The mojo done the trick the birds were trying to land on it.
We shout about 200 or so opening day. Like Cholt, they didn’t start flying until around 3, really getting heavy around 4.
The next morning was another 150 or so.
That afternoon we only shot a few birds, but the corn field to the north of us was banging.
The next Saturday we only shot 5-6 per person. The birds had smartened up a little.
We were going to try to get a cut corn field later that week, but somebody beat us to it.
I’ve driven around in the afternoon checking a few fields, and there are a few birds here and there. But it’s mostly over.
Dad has been seeing birds up in TN lately. May be getting another push.
Had a good opening day shoot on Saturday down here. My oldest is now officially a wingshooter. Did I mention it was HOT. Hitting a different field this weekend, hope the birds stay a little longer.
We are still loaded with them in north Al.
Nice work, especially getting the younh 'uns out. They will remember these hunts for a long, long time. I did that with our 3 boys (all in their 30's now). Only 1 is still a serious hunter, but other 2 still talk about those father/son dove hunts.
I'm hoping the cold front pushes some birds south next week.
I don’t know about all that loaded in North Alabama talk. I drove some more fields this afternoon in south Limestone and only saw a couple of birds. I have some more fields I might check this weekend. But unless we get a push of birds, I’m probably done for the year. About to start back crappie fishing and maybe try to get a quail hunt together this month.
