I had an opportunity to hunt a grassland refuge this morning. I arrived at the refuge a little late and hurried to find a spot. I got set up about 10 minutes after shoot time only to find there were no birds. I hunted until about 10:00 am but only shot my gun 1 time. There was very little shooting on the refuge. I hunted the same location last Wednesday and limited out by 9:00 am. It's amazing how things changed over 1 week. We had no wind, no fog and no birds. I felt like I was hunting in early November.

I hope the rest of you had better success then I did. Lets see what you got.

South grass clubs shot well today. At least the ones I talked to. One group had 7 wigeon 4 redheads and 3 teal by 7:30!

Buddies in north grass said it sucked.

Will probably be the opposite on Saturday

I did a late afternoon hunt at a Grasslands refuge. Only a couple vehicles in the lot. I heard about 10 shots on the refuge during the last hour of LST, one shot was mine and stoned a hen GW Teal. Got back to my vehicle and the rear tire was completely flat. Put the spare on and was almost back to the check station as they were driving out to look for me. He said that they would be lucky to have a 2 birds average today.

Only hero shot I got in the grasslands yesterday. Ended with three snows and three spoons. Got the knee and back drained by the VA on Monday so I free roamed it. One of the snows flushed like a pheasant scared the **** out of me. 20200115_085023.jpg
