As far as I know they imprint on the location of their nest and will return to the same place every year. It's surprising how close nests are to the same location each year. That said, who cares if an inmate gets attacked by a goose in the yard. I'm guessing there is some liability involved forcing their checkbook on this.

They’ve been on these prison ponds for years. Lay their eggs around the ponds and then when the eggs hatch they just swim around all summer and eat grass. Then in the fall they venture out some to the grain fields nearby to feed after sunset and then come back to the pond before shooting light. They get smart quickly and before you know it you’ve got a resident group of inbred geese that are 150+ in size

Simple solution. Train inmates to do water retrieves-shock collar may come in handy-and hunt those damned gooses on the pond. Train others for new careers...operating a picking shed and as cooks. They can cook their own goose. Some already have experience in cooking their own goose.

Can’t call em inmates anymore. Some liberal politician has a family member incarcerated somewhere and took offense to it. So they’re now called “individuals in custody.” And we can’t make em “work” anymore like you talked about. They have to be part of a program where we offer them “good time”, which knocks days off of their sentences. We can’t even get our boots shined up anymore cuz it’s “degrading” to the individual shining them
