Everybody always talks about the white being more visible but I think the darker colors stick out better. White can get lost in the reflection of the sun on the water. If you get a good ways off from a raft of blackheads they look mostly dark unless the sun is behind you. Never the less they look good and I really like the canvas birds!

I have to do 3 gift ducks and 3 gift shorebirds. Here are the first two ducks, a wigeon and a brant, my first brant. The third duck is a can and is roughed out on the bench now. All are hollow white cedar from the pile of logs I brought home from NJ in Dec. with basswood heads and oil paint. If the giftees want weighted keels I can put weights on them but their wives usually will not let them take them out of the house.

Here is the wigeon next to one I did in 1990 out of cork. It won second in species in a show and his mate one best in species.

As I remember back several years you posted some great ball buster birds, I’m anxious to see these all dressed up.

Very nice! Really like that cork wigeon, I hope it gets hunted.

The cork wigeon is 31 years old and has been hunted a lot. He's still wearing his line and weight.
