No keel on this one. It was purchased as a display bird to go along with a mounted Common Scoter. The guy who’s collection it’s going to wants a carved bird to go along with each of his taxidermy pieces.

Cork bird with a basswood head. I like carving these ocean birds. Few more years before I will ever get to try and hunt them myself. Someday.

Looks pretty good to me. You capture that scoter attitude very well.

Nice lines. I'm trying to figure out the two tone effect.

710B0B83-1BCE-4CC1-8541-2440224F2A15.jpeg Latest set of birds and all the gadwall orders for the year completed. New pattern was drawn up and I have a practice bird in the bunch that is not spoken for. One of the birds is an urn for a local fella. High-powered yellow dog, developed this pattern to show a proud and upright decoy to match the dog’s personality. Hollow bass and painted in oils. They cured for a week or so and then I applied a thin coat of varnish on them. That varnish will take a couple of weeks to cure out nicely.

Nice Tom. If I ever get past the gift birds, my blind mates want more gadwalls.
