I'm a horrible rifle photographer and was trying to catch the last rays of sunshine today but here is the rifle, .36 cal, nothing fancy.

That's a beautiful rifle. Did you use rope to get the wood grain like that? I always wanted to shoot one of those.
Nice work fitting the metal to the wood.

Woodies are done. I'm happy with them considering that I hate painting the drakes and these are the first hens I've done. That's the first drake that I've actually been pleased with, the few others turned out cartoonist or too dark. They lacked the pop of a drake wood duck. If I can replicate this in the future I will only strongly dislike doing them.

Great job on those woodies. I haven't worked up the courage to attempt them.
Thanks. I really didn't want to do them because of the 3-4 I've done I haven't been satisfied yet. I'm glad my nephew talked me into doing them because I really like how these turned out. I'll be taking pictures and writing down some notes before I ship them off. I won't be as hesitant next time someone asks.

Well, you guys told me so…

I pulled the swans out and put keels together for them this week. Well today was hang them on the birds day. And as you guys predicted I bent the life right out of them…. Bad.

So I tore them down and am going to re-rib them and start over with new canvas and paint.

Farm store had 9ga and 12ga galvanized wire. So I will chalk it up as a learning experience and move on. Better to happen now than later.
