Was flipping through a Mason book and figured I'd try my hand at a plover. I traced the side profile of a nail billed tac eye plover and gave my interpretation of the paint job. I had no idea how big real Mason plover are so I guess it's a sort of mini.

I finally finished up the quail project last night. I've been working on them off and on since mid August. I don't hand paint much anymore and really have to be in the mood to lay down the airbrush. The fence post is carved from laminated one inch pine. I made the base underneath out of blue pine. The top knot is wire with apoxie sculpt.

Pretty nice. Have 18-25 daily in the back yard.

I've worked a little on the canvas swans.

Making a sleeper and an upright. About ready for canvas.

They are fair sized shorebirds, 11" with a 2' wingspan. That would be a real plover.

That's good to know, we don't get them much anymore on the south shore. Back before 1900 I'm sure there was plenty. Shoot sounds like most of my plovers are on the small side
