Yummy poult shooter would be more precise. Like the biologist say, shoot the young of the year, leave the breeders alone. I let the hens go so there will be more turkeys next fall. BTW over the last ten twelve years, I’ve shot over 50 hens and at least a dozen Tom’s off this property. Haven’t put a dent in the population. If I don’t shoot a few turkeys every year, no more goose hunting.

50? Had to be done, just jealous anyhow. I used to do the fall thing in MO but I don't think there's enough turkeys in FL to shoot fall hens.

Good luck up North tomorrow everyone. Be safe and shoot straight. I’ll be working an event for the HRC club doing retriever demonstrations. Good PR. Hope to get out goose hunting on Sunday.

My expectations tomorrow will be similar to what they are at 230 am. Pretty low. Just really haven’t seen the amount of birds I have expected the last week. Hopefully some of you boys are in them in the morning.

Found a field about 20 minutes NNE of my house that has about 1939-2019 geese, 203-211 mallards and one black duck. The rain stopped and I’m all set. Some mallards already landed in the sheet water and a deer walked by us.

Good luck to all this season!
