So I made a total impulse buy today and I now own a Stevens 301 turkey gun... I think I want to put a red dot/reflex sight on it but I’ve never used any optics on a shotgun, so I don’t have any idea what to get or even what to look for. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

Burris Fast Fire 3, or the new 4...

Many other good ones out there...Leupold Deltapoint, Trijicon RMR or SRO, etc...

I ran a Burris FF3 on a speed bead for a season. Removed it. New turkey gun has a low power scope (3x shorty) with a see thru mount to use the bead. Most red dots and my astigmatism don’t agree. EOTechs aren’t as bad, but still worse than a scope. No eye issues, and they are all nice setups.

Tried a scope for the kid when younger. He hated it .
Just put the little bead behind the big bead .

I don’t usually shoot turkey on the wing.

Gotta admit, I'm never quite sure if you're just a little kooky, or stoned off your a**, but I do look forward to your whacky posts on EVERY SINGLE THREAD.

AS you age, if you are lucky to do so, your eyes can develop issues with lining up open sights on a turkeys head.

Cheap optics are a liability and many of the old reddot type scopes will let you down when you need them the most. IMO

I went to a Leupold turkey scope on my 870 SP twenty years ago. Never looked back (yes, a pun) and never felt more confident when I pulled the trigger. A few hundred dead turkeys later and would not change for anything. JMO.
