Anyone here reload 270 win with a nontox bullet for Ca if so what recipe are you running. I just picked up an older early 90’s Remington 700 bdl 270 and want to set it up for Ca deer and pigs. Also has anyone built a light weight mountain gun, at some point I might put a carbon fiber wrapped barrel and a light weight stock on it. I’m not looking for the $$ options but rather the good solid hunting options.

Haven't reloaded, but the two loads that my gun seems to like are the barnes lrx and Hornady outfitters.

Yea from stuff I’ve read it seems copper bullets like faster twists 1in 9” and most old guns run a slower twist 1in 10” or slower.

Reasoning behind that is the copper bullets are longer than lead and the slower twist guns can't stabilize em. I had luck with the federal blue box copper for factory, 130 grain. I know a lot of guys load 120 or 110 for their 270s because the length is similar to a 130 lead bullet

130 gr Nosler E-tip, 57 grains of H4831SC out of my Rem 700 is an absolute tack driver. Tried Barnes and Hornady's. The rifle likes the E-tip. Same with my .300 WSM. When I pull the trigger, things fall down.

Call Steve at Hammer bullets- sure he can help you out with reloading info or who loads those bullets. Pretty deadly and non lead. I switched from Barnes and a big improvement

Lots of loads for 270 listed in the hammer forums... one of the calibers I don't reload... good luck John.
