I used to shoot a lot of them and the norm was 8-10lb. I thought this 12.2 was a pig of a bird. Man a 15lb must be a swan with black paint.

I thought about 10 or so years ago on the Fuge we had a contest??? It started after guys were claiming 20 pound geese? I think the Myth was debunked quickly and guys disappeared to tell lies elsewhere!LOL

Might be the only redeeming trait of a real bass fisherman, they all carry scales.

That’s a good one … used to shoot lots of big Local Honkers in Fresno … back in the day on the goose forum there was a thread of who can shoot a 16lb or bigger goose , people say they don’t get that big .. They do …. Could be true with wild birds but these semi domestic honkers that feed all day long on junk food from people get fat …. And huge .. Ive mounted one over 19 and a 17… many in the 13/15 lb class … Big Ones … you got figure all that junk food and little exercise they get huge ..

Thats a good bird,we shoot are share biggest we get run 9 to 11lbs,You show me a 18lbs honker you feed that bird and cliped it's wings lol.Bird on my avater,is only 9lbs and the dog is 90lbs.I guess you could get a 18 lb honker let float in the water,down feathers would grab you a lbs lol

I don’t know… I’ve had to lug out geese a couple of miles and I swear they started light and by the end of the hump they weighed 40 lbs. each…
