That’s a good one … used to shoot lots of big Local Honkers in Fresno … back in the day on the goose forum there was a thread of who can shoot a 16lb or bigger goose , people say they don’t get that big .. They do …. Could be true with wild birds but these semi domestic honkers that feed all day long on junk food from people get fat …. And huge .. Ive mounted one over 19 and a 17… many in the 13/15 lb class … Big Ones … you got figure all that junk food and little exercise they get huge ..

Opening weekend at Klamath Trudy would have a biggest goose contest. One time I shot one that I thought might be worthy. Brought it in and weighed 11lbs. I took fourth. Winner was just about at 12 lbs. An 11lb honker is very large. I can't imagine one larger than 12-13lbs.

20# honks are as common as a blue phase ross,double banded, neck collared,and packing a transmitter... odds are slightly better seeing a bigfoot in captivity...

This stuff makes me laugh. I have weighed many geese people swore weighed 20 lbs and I have never, ever weighed on over the 12 lb mark. Fat stupid golf course geese that didn't fly a mile a day.

I will donate 100 dollars to CWA for every Honker weighed on a certified scale and weighs over 12 lbs, posted up here. They are like finding a virgin in a ***** house.

I've personally put two on a scale that weighed 14 pounds. But I agree an 18 pound goose would be rare and a 20 pounder almost unheard of.

Several seasons ago I killed a swan in Nevada, when I show people the picture I usually ask what they think it weighed. Most say 20 or over and a few say 30+. It was 17.

I don’t know, a guy at Gray Lodge in the trailer lot told me he stacked up 12# specks.haha He was serious and I don’t think very drunk. I’ve shot some big local honkers I thought were absolute giants. Gotta be over 20. Nope. None over 13#

Killin 10ton whales on the East coast, meanwhile in CA we can't locate a 20#goose??,,,or a swan for that matter! Good lord fellas, weak sauce.
