Beautiful morning in the field. No birds, but saw way more sign at this spot than yesterday.

All the years I've been hunting, all the birds I've shot, I never blasted one like this. Even Goose looked at me like "I'm supposed to retrieve that?" She came straight at me and I waited till she was past but...
All I could use was about 2/3 of one thigh. I guess out of pure luck I rarely hit it with more than a few pellets. 3.5" #4 steel. 20191119_151518.jpg

3.5"? Damn that's dispatching them with extreme impunity. I had a game farm bird a few years ago that I shot with lead 5's at about 10 yards that actually had parts raining down. I typically just use steel 4's that are my normal duck load. Hitting up a couple of spots tomorrow morning before work if anyone wants to hop in.

I'll be doing my normal Thanksgiving morning hunt if anyone wants to come along. I am planning on heading down to Eldorado this year if that makes it easier for anyone down south a bit more than me.

If it is the one towards fondulac oshkosh then I might take you up on that offer if the hunting around here doesn't change.

That's the one. Planning on hitting the fields by 7 or so and hunting until noon if possible.

We were flushing pigeons out of grain bins in ND last year and 3 of us shot the same one that flew straight up in front of us. The pigeon exploded and I had half of it stuck to the back of my shoulder. Had just enough time to turn or would have gotten it in the face.
