    It's for Hunt 760 - Zone 6- Surprise Valley

Anyone know the chances at #4 Alternate and perhaps some suggestions down the road if I do get drawn?

I was about ready to pay my deposit for my San Diego tuna trip which is at the end of August too so I told the guy setting up the trip I can't commit until I find out. If I have a good chance to get on this speed goat hunt I figure I will wait until the week of July 22 (when DFW will notify me) and then see if I can still get on the tuna trip if I don't get drawn.

While I am at, anyone have a halfway decent 60-100 lb. rated 6' casting rod with eyes (no rollers) for sale..?

Call DFW. Someone nice there may tell you the general odds of 4 tagholders returning their tags. I’m guessing it’s very slim that you would get a tag....

You got a chance, years back I was a #1 alternate, ( Likely tables) didn't pan out, then a couple of years ago I get the notification for a #7 alternate, I didn't send my money in, figured zero chance, got a call from DFG, the lady asked if I was interested in the tag, about fell over...… good luck!!

I'd go tuna fishing any day over goat hunting, that's for damn sure.
I love Lope meat but it doesn't hold a candle to fresh tuna and cases of canned tuna.
    Good luck with your choice.

@CUTTERS DADDY why do you want 6’? I’d go 7.5 to 8’.....rail rod. Calstar 800xxh if I was buying one.

I’d hate to burn my chance at a goat and I can plan another tuna trip

You got a shot and antelope are a blast to hunt. You catch stinking fish anytime.
I was a alternate for sheep and didn’t get it but that is how I got my Nevada bull.
Maybe they won’t fill the boat or a cancellation on that trip or another.

Trade offs for sure with the shorter rod and the Calstar is out of my price range. Just want something to give me a “chance” should the cows be around on my next trip down.

Your odds are terrible! With only 10 tags available, 40% of the winners would have tri turn them back in.
