Still too damn much snow up here for decent walking in the marshes. Dogs found a deer head today that looked like it was dead for a couple of months, so that was fun. Hoping enough melting happens this week to get out in the marsh next weekend.

FWIW. I used to train my dogs as soon as snow went out as a rule of thumb. That is, until I had a 4yo female lab catch a terminal case of blastomycosis. Spores are extremely prevalent in northern Wi marshes right after snow melt.
It's a fungal disease that started in her nasal cavity and spread to lungs. She went from healthy as a horse to dead in 3 weeks even with agressive medication.
