All the NAVHDA folks I train with have been really nice....the established ones cannot WAIT to offer advice. One guy loved a clicker/treats for training pups..... Generally I have found that finding the guys who have passed their VC and just go about their business on the group training days are the best ones to talk to.

Asked the trainer if it would be a problem retrieving a goose.
His response was, I doubt their is anything she won’t retrieve!
    She is driven!

Differently agree on the force fetch. Its not so much to make them fetch, but so they hold it all the way in.

Force fetch by pinching a dog's ear does not describe the complexities that are involved.
In the short form, it is simply one technique for producing a conditioned response.

There are some dogs that are forced by using a toe hitch. And other's that are forced by
properly using an e-collar. The one word that generally is misunderstood is properly. Dogs
and trainers are not all the same.

Many years ago, a pro friend of mine provided this advice. "Until you have forced many
dogs (40-50), you don't know it all." And sometimes, it takes more than just numbers. :h
He did point to the scars on his hands and arms. :yes

It is easy to pinch a dog's ear. The difficult part is interpreting and reacting correctly to
    the response. :reader

It is easy to push the button on an e-collar....then what?
