REAL Butcher/Butcher Shops

    Since things are a bit slooow here- I've bee on the other Forums & there is a post about "Beef!" Anyway the subject is :"Tri-tip" beef strip/steak, is there any real butcher shops left around here where they actually slaughter cattle? Thanks, Guys! Take care & be safe!

    There is place right near me thats still doing that,but I'm pretty sure all there Beef goes straight to Chicago.
    I would say maybe 4-5 within 75 miles of me,I believe like most small agri business they are being pushed out by larger operations,be it farm,dairy,pork,chicken or beef.

    Yep, the guy that slaughters my yearly steer has a butcher shop. He mostly does other peoples custom cutting/wrapping, but buys steers too and sells meat in the shop. He does just about any animal, pig, sheep, steer, goat, deer, elk, etc. He makes his money in the hanging/cutting and wrapping more than in outright meat sales. I always pay for a couple extra weeks of hanging/aging, makes for better tasting beef.
