I got my roll crimper today and over shot cards. Tried it out this evening I can see right away I'm gonna have to get a hull vice. I thought I could hold the hulls by hand, but there's no way.
I tried some Rio unfired, skived, hulls with 1 oz. ITX 10 #4's, and some Fed GM hulls cut down to 2-1/2" and loaded with bismuth. Gonna try'em, hopefully, on some snow geese.
So far I don't like it too good, but we shall see.

What wad were you using for the ITX and bismuth?

I’m just getting into RTO crimps and using a cordless drill on high speed I can hold the shell with my hand easily. Have you tried that?

Oh yeah , a Hull Vise works much better than , holding it by hand ! Even a OLD pair of Pliers works until you pay for a real "hull vise" !
I get best results with my Drill Press at 900 rpm's , with a touch of lube on the Die !

Are finished roll crimped shells longer, shorter or the same length as fold crimp using the same hull? I have heard they can be longer.

Could you use a drill press with an index? Flat level base seems like it would be easier than holding the shell in your hand.

Gaep makes this universal shell holder. Its just a tapered cup that works great. 20200203_154930.jpg 20170824_170508.jpg

I also use a Gaep Hull holder Die as I mounted it on a piece of 3/4" HMW plastic . With its ability to hold 10 ga down to 410's , it works wonderfully for
    my use on the drill press ! IMG_0271 (1).JPG IMG_0263 (1).JPG FGJK5471 (1).JPG
