I lived in Logan from 1982-88 and hunted both northern Utah and southeast Idaho.
Back then it was a 90-day season, 7-duck bag limit.
I like hunting blue grouse in super steep avalanche chutes loaded with mountain ash berries in Sept.
Then Oct I would hunt roosters after the opener in southern Idaho.
Nov-Jan was mainly waterfowl and getting better and better after the marshes froze up.

I see from google maps my favorite warm spring area still does not have a road within a mile of it and still has plenty of flooded trees.
That was my favorite late season spot...just ski in if deep snow with the lab and then
lean against a tree as the tornado of mallards came in at dawn from the wheat fields.
No decoys needed.

I bought a lifetime Idaho license for $200 just before we moved up to Alaska in 1993.

You weren't by any chance, on the 6 year plan? :)

Well, it is now October 2022.
I no longer have some decent private ground.
But if your are around Pocatello during the season, PM me if you hunt

I'd love to take you up on that sometime. I'm usually in that area for Sept. Archery elk and I'm amazed at the numbers of birds out there compared to back East. I need to get back out there for your waterfowl season. Waterfowl hunting has gotten so poor here, I'm not even sure what hunt I could trade you.

@salthunter,
I was in your area a couple weeks ago. Someone lost a small stack of honker shells on the highway from IF to Ashton.
Fwiw, I did not see many birds. I used to see flocks of heavies around fort hall and clouds of ducks around that general area.
