Quick Question and I hope I don't get flamed here.

North Zone is open...South Zone opens Sat at 9:00 a.m. According to the regs "Shooting hours for all waterfowl species will begin at 9am on the opening days of the regular duck seasons"

I have a spot that is in the north zone right on the border of the south zone. Does this mean shooting hours open at 9:00 in this spot because the south zone opens Sat?

Or is it safe to shoot 1/2 before sunrise on Saturday given I will be hunting in the open North Zone?

    Thanks

If your in the northern zone it's a half hour before sunrise. 9 a.m. is only for hunting in the southern zone

    ^^^^^^^^^ MM has it right

If you look in the regs for the N zone it states "normal shooting hours apply except on Sept 27"

No one should ever get flamed for the regulations causing them confusion. Between the waterfowl and deer regulations, WI has got to be dead last in regulation readability.

True. The sad part though is our messed up rules get ingrained in our hunters brains and they believe they are somehow necessary to protect the poor little duckies and gooseys from total annihilation.

I will say after spending the past 7 years living and hunting in Kansas, Wisconsin has some confusing regs. My favorite is the open water law "concealment" law.

I thought when Stepp took over things were supposed to get easier-the only things that got easier were the ability to fill in wet lands and dig mines.

In 2011 there was 16 frac sand mines.

Now there is 125, with an additional 16+ in the works. I say that's an explosion.
