One day back in Ohio as a kid I was fishing with a buddy on a large private lake. We saw a really big snake swimming on the surface and decided to motor over and catch it. I lifted the snake into the boat with a landing net. Big, big mistake. It was a large and very angry, brown water snake. It immediately went on the attack and bit my buddy in the leg. It was trying to bite me and I barely was able to keep it back with an oar. My buddy jumped in the water. It finally went over the side back into the lake. It was one bad as* snake. By far the biggest water snake I ever saw.
My buddy was freaked out because he thought it might be a cotton mouth. Lucky for him it was just a big bleeding bite

Another little Ring Neck…California’s central Sierra Nevada flavor.

Mountain Kings are fairly common in my part of the Sierra.

The one and only Hog Nose I’ve ever seen and he was on my property.
Very cool series of snakes there... You don't find that many cool snakes without looking for them (or paying close attention); I have seen a fair number of snakes (garter snakes, racers, gopher snakes, king snakes, rattle snakes), and the only unusual one I have seen was a Rosey Boa. You must be looking under some rocks...

6 foot shed found in one of my out buildings at work. Yes, I said 6 ft.
6 feet of venomous, constricting, multi fanged killer on my property just awaiting me to stumble by one day so I can become its dinner.
