I always thought bull snakes were neat looking snakes. We don't have them but I'd like to come across one one day. They get pretty big don't they?
We don't see them much anymore sadly.
I haven't seen a bull snake of any size for a few years .
Lots of people here confuse fox snakes for bull snakes..
When we 1st moved out to the acreage, we had a couple of legitimate 6 footers.
The wife caught one and put it in a metal garbage can so the kids could see it .
Gone the next morning without tipping the can over .
Ain't no way I was touching that sucker .

That they do! I haven't seen a monster yet but they keep getting larger

They do, this one I'd estimate was 5 1/2-6' Haven't seen many this year.

Are they mean or fairly docile?

Yep.
I just can't do it. Had a couple nephews that was going to spend a few days with us and I found a 10 inch garter snake before they got here. Took all of my manpower to grab it and put in a bucket so they could see it . Hopefully the last snake I touch .

My 2yr niece got snake bit, in my parents dark hallway night before last. They didn't realize she was bit, until the next day! Luckily, it was a small rat snake. I've killed more copperheads, than I've seen good snakes on the farm. That whole part of the county is full of copperheads, or cottonmouths, and sometimes both.

They will let you know that they don't want to be messed with. They coil up, hiss and strike out. They seem to be especially 'touchy' when they are shedding their skin.

Yep, we have a bunch of them in the area around our lake house. Them and canebrakes are the most common venomous snakes in that area. There are a few cottonmouths around if you get down in the swampy places.
We’ve got a few timber rattlers, a lot of copperheads & too many cottonmouths to count. Found several of them sunning on my doormat.

Another man killer.
Most like a 12 footer.
I identified it as an Americanus Serpantus Constricterus of the genus Killamus (of the aqua family).
