Saw a hawk fly off with one out of the brush while fishing. Either a gopher or a rattler and it was big. Hoping it was a rattlesnake.

First hognose I've ever seen, turkey hunting when we came across it, stunk something fierce

The old-timers here called it the 'spread-head moccasin'.

We smelled just a musty urine smell when we got to the turkey blind in the dark, told my son there was a snake around, a couple hours later when we got up to leave, he was a few feet behind the blind.

Another morning I was taking a nap on the ground, son sitting next to me while we hunted, had some calls in my lap, a wake up to what I thought was high winds, but the leaves werent moving, my son screamed snake!, had a rattler crawling up behind my head, we jumped up, all my calls ended 20ft out into the field. Once I got my wits together I went looking for him but he was no where to be found, noticed holes everywhere.

Someone sent me this pic. They swear it's a real snake but I've never seen one like it unless it a baby corn snake. Any guesses?

Could be a bad morning if this was the tree you wanted to sit by to a turkey.
