Been using a duck oven.
I have wore it, with just a T-shirt on underneath in temps down to 22°. I was not cold ( biggest advantage is windproof).
However if temps get above 50°, you are going to get very warm with minimal activity.( with activity- you are going to be sweating!)
It also is not waterproof, and I would say the water resistance is minimal at best.
I have another Sitka lighter weight zip up ( I forget which one it is- non hooded). It is warm as a “jacket” ( when most people wear a “hoodie”). Under a waterproof jacket, it is good.
I prefer to wear my browning non hooded, kangaroo pouch pullover mostly.
BUT, a couple days we dipped into single digits-
I wore the browning pullover, and duck oven over it. I was toasty warm.
Then started snowing/raining, winds in the 20s, as warmed up into the 20s and I threw on an Avery waterproof shell weight jacket over both.
I was warm, and dry.
if had to do over again, I would probably do the Hudson or Delta jacket ( a size larger than normal).
Then a duck oven.
Some have said…. Waste of money.
I disagree. While it is pricey, I would say if catch on sale, it is worth the price.
Yes, you can get cheaper stuff, and it may be fine.
I held out for years, as I thought it was just to much $$$.
But found a deal on the Duck Oven, and wife bought it for me as a gift.
