Shame because you could just about always be guaranteed to catch croaker when everything else was slow. Wife loved to catch fish and they were the perfect easy to catch fish and doubles on light tackle could get the adrenaline flowing. Many don,t like to eat them about like small blues but I always enjoyed them cooked on grill. Use to see literal truck loads of them being hauled when down around Cape Charles traveling summer months so i,ll assume the commercial catch about done them in.

Small blue or croaker fillets w/green pepper, onion, butter and a spritz of lemon juice. Wrapped in a tin foil packet and cooked on grill ain,t bad a bit.
