Holy cow...I'm completely overwhelmed by all your heartwarming responses. Please forgive me if I don't comment on each one of your posts. I had no idea that so many of you would respond in such a kind, heartfelt, and refreshing way. I am seriously very pleased to hear from each of you.
When I saw my first Phainopepla, my college ornithology group, headed by Dr. Stabler, was in the foothills not far from Fresno, The one in the photo was in the Lost Lake area along the river. I keep going back, hoping for another shot, but no luck so far.

Annie is doing great, coming into her hunting prime, but coming out of her prime in dock jumping. I recognized that curled up tail in your photo immediately. Moxie and Annie share that tail, face, body and hind leg looks.
Sorry to hear about her eye issue, that is sad to hear.
Annie is starting to get some grey hairs on her belly, and some subtle grey on her chin...makes me feel like their lives go too fast.

Unbelievable...Moxie is also getting grey hairs on her belly and a noticeable amount on chin too. Their birthdays are coming up Oct. 26th. they will be 6 years old. Where did the time go?

You're one of the good ones here and I know I miss seeing you here regularly.

Your ability with a camera is truly impressive, sorry to hear of the set-backs, but you and Moxie seem to be making the best of it,... thanks for posting, and don't be a stranger.

Thank you for sharing your photos. Looking at your "gallery" is pretty much the sole reason I ever come back to this forum. Keep up the good work, in spite of all odds. :tu

Great stuff as always, Mike. Sorry we didn’t get chance to visit this last season. Here’s to getting back to normal next season!
