Anecdotally, I found out this evening that my son's best friend from high school, in the Air Force now, was the flight controller who launched the F-22's for this mission. It's pretty cool to see the kids picking the ball up. :tu

More like we were so incompetent as to not detect it then realized it could potentially release a bioweapon so we were too scared to take it down over the land.
:l

We were scared. We didn’t detect it before it was over our people.
Not the first or second or even third time China has flown balloons os the US in the last 5 years. We were just never told about it.

So....the question is....why were we told about this one? Smoke and mirrors? Look here...don't look there. Pay attention to this...not this.

Seriously. What information do you think they obtained 12 miles in the air that couldn't have been done with a satellite.

You guys just look for reasons to be mad.
You are quoting the Pentagon's talking points. Do we really have an idea as to what intelligence gathering capability it possesses? Have we had one in hand?
If what you say is True then why did we FINALLY shoot it down?

I love how the people who are supposedly pro-military never hesitate to chit on it when it supports their political views.

If you think we didn’t know about it beforehand you’re clueless.

Yeah, I don't think it's feasible to think that we didn't detect it immediately. And who was scared and what was there to be scared about?

I heard that low orbit satellite are up in the 400,000 feet above earth. The balloon was at 60,000 feet. So the theory, that the imagery wouldn't be that much better is wrong. Probably could see if screw heads were phillips head or star bit on everything.
