How many here keep a good batch of starter going? I have one that's currently about 2 years old. I use the starter for biscuits, pancakes, and of course bread. This is an old-school starter, without yeast, and potato based. Sourdough buttermilk biscuits on the Dutch Camp Oven....with Yellow Star Thistle honey from Pendell Apiaries........doesn't get a whole lot better.

Or an egg and cheese biscuit sandwich with homemade hickory bacon......

During the Alaska/Klondike gold rush some miners were referred to as "sourdoughs" because they had their own starters and made all kinds of things with them, most notably "flapjacks". Any Ole Sourdoughs on here?

I have no idea what you’re talking about half the time.

    Dandy,
I was actually thinking of doing this. Could you put up a recipe?

My wife started a batch 3 weeks ago but it doesn't look like it started. We may have to start all all over again.
