I'll be up Nov. 21-26 to visit family for Thanksgiving in the Leonardtown area. I've been looking at maps of public lands. It's much different than the 25,000-50,000 acre tracts we have in Georgia.

If anyone would like to throw me a bone for a good starting point for archery hunting, it would be greatly appreciated. I'd be willing to return the favor down here in GA for deer or turkey. These were last season.

I don’t know much about southern md hunting, but bring a firearm. The modern firearm season for deer opens that Saturday

good deer hunting all over southern maryland. check the maryland DNR site to find out what places you must register with them to get a permit or reservation or allowed to just walk in if you are licensed. be prepared for a wave of an orange army if you show up during our gun season. you can still shoot a bow during gun season and as CG said you still must wear orange and recommend you do so on public grounds. many archery purest use the bow during the entire deer season. good luck to ya and be safe. watch out for some of our finest folks in southern maryland "Southern Maryland In Breds (SMIBS)". :)
