The worst thing I ever did was allow the ol lady to call the shots with the dog...my beagle had full run but he earned that after retiring at 11-12 yrs. Chessie was another story, got him at about 6 mo full of pizz and vinegar. I said ain’t no way are we having a dog that size and with that amount of hair and stank on the furniture. I think that lasted a week or less. I caved and said ok he gets one couch cushion we will keep a blanket over. That lasted a week and he got his pick of any and all couches and chairs. My hill to die on was absolutely not on the bed. That lasted about another week. All said and done about a month after owning this dam dog he’s allowed in more rooms and on more furniture than I am.

He pretty much gets whatever he wants either from me or the wife, but we’d have it no other way. He’s our 4legged kid.

Spoiled is what we do at our house. It was my wife’s labs 6th birthday this past Friday so had a birthday party.

She's ridden in a kennel in the back of the truck exactly one time in her 3 years.
She's not allowed in the passenger seat, but the back is hers.

You can't spoil a good dog, you can only give them more of what they deserve

Both of my old dogs rode shotgun. JR can't make it up that far anymore, so I have the back seats up and help him in on the floor. Except for having to put up with the pup in the back, he seems pretty content.
It's a rare occurrence that he jumps on the bed anymore. Except for the dead of winter, he didn't stay anyway.

We bought a king size bed so that there would be enough room for us plus the two labs. Didn't give me any more room as they both still have to try and be the closest to dad.
