Spring 2022 Turkey Hunting

Ha we both did a long awkward carry today then as I just got back in from "farmer walking" a 35lb kettlebell 1.5 miles. You win though your awkward weight a way more delicious.

Wednesday got home from work at 00:15. Got to sleep by 00:35. The alarm went off at 02:45 and left the house for turkey hunting at 03:00.
It was a perfect morning.
The gobbling started at 04:44 and was non stop until 06:21. Heard at least ten different gobblers within a half mile of me. The only Tom I saw followed a hen around for an hour and a half and eventually they walk within 25 yards of the truck. I was 800 yards from the truck. Gave it until 08:30 then commuted 1000 miles to work. It was a long day but I had a good game plan for the turkey hunt on Saturday.
Saturday(today) got done with work at 00:00. Asleep by 00:30. Got up at 04:00 and made the 1000 mile commute home ten minutes quicker than last week.
My wife and I got set up in the Turkey blind by 16:30. By 16:40 there were a couple two three turkeys gobbling around us.
16:44, I called once.
16:48 two Jakes were 70 yards behind the blind.
16:49 a hen was out front 300 yards away.
16:51 Two huge Toms were strutting 256 yards to the North, following around a hen.
16:56 a hen was 80 yards to the south and walking to the decoys with a Tom in trail at 150ish yards.
16:58 the two Jakes are ten yards behind the blind and the Hen is almost to the decoys.
Do we wait for the Toms? EFfing He!! NO!!!
16:59 my wife shoots a Jake at six yards.
The other Jake jumps and runs. My first shot at 35 yards breaks a leg and a wing. I reloaded the cannon quicker than goosenazi can grab and open another Hamms. The second shot of lead 4s at 48 yards completed the hunt.
Got packed up:
and it was a good 1000 yards back to the truck.

I walked my dog a block down the tracks. Legs feel a lil wobbly and knees ache a bit.
You guys do this chit carrying guns and ammo too? Miles? Oh God. Thanks for sharing it helps get thru the "not duck season".

It doesn’t take much to be faster than goosenazi grabbing and opening a Hamms as he always takes his time so he doesn’t spill. That would be against his religion.
