Shot some 12gauge, 2.75” handloads of 0.90oz steel 1’s with 0.30oz TSS 8’s

Geese worked nicely today. We had a reverse migration this past few days/week and they sat of grass and water for the last 2 days with warmer temps. Most of our hunting shuts down next week.

Guessing 35-45 at the “far” specks

I told my buddy they’re usually easy to kill, so we tried them. Geese were standard 15-35yard ranges

I’m guessing 1400-1475 on the speeds. I’ll have to dig and see if I have pattern pictures/info Carlson LongRange Choke (improved modified), Beretta a-350

Euro hull
Cheddite primer
32-34gn A-steel
CSD100 wad
0.80-0.90 gn steel 1’s or 2’s
over/mixed or under
0.25-0.30gn tss 7’s or 8’s
Fold crimp

I had a random assortment with me in the bag.

Awesome! A 2.75" goose load is rad. Looks like the dog had fun as well

I think you’re spot on with speeds.

I am running one pretty close to yours.

Fed top gun plastic base wad
33 steel powder
csd 078
5/8 steel B-2
1/2 tss 7-9
fold crimp
Tested average 1423fps

I have shot a lot of B X 7 at geese and they worked just fine Aprox 143 pellets
friend is running another load using gold metal and sam 1 with 1.25 and shooting a 2X9 and crushing everything.

Got a few things to have tested this coming summer. Just need Alliant to put some Steel powder on the market getting a little low.

Would you be willing to share what primer you are using and the tested pressure (if determined)?

From the earlier thread on Federal TG hulls, folks seemed comfortable with 32-34 grains of Alliant Steel with 1-1/8 ounce of steel 3's with a cooler primer (Winchester 209 or Cheddite).

Shot some steel 3’s and hw15 7’s handloads this weekend

Pretty good performance by the handloads of HTL/steel, bismuth, and factory steel/tss

Not reloads but a friend and I were both shooting Apex blended loads and managed to scratch out our first blue bill limit since 2016. My sample set is still small this season with a new born at home and several swamps I hunt dried up due to drought. I’ve had more ducks dead that my lab usually has to chase from shots behind and below as they pass over. It’s not magic and you still have to make the shot but it’s an improvement over straight steel and not that much more than premium steel.
