What’s the deal with the DNR surveys? I normally go to their website each week and look at the numbers but don’t see anything since like January/February of this past season. I’ve been at the lake or an impoundment three out of the last four tuesdays and have seen the flight plane fly over but have yet to see any numbers pop up online. Are they listed somewhere else now and I’m looking in the wrong spot? If they’re just goin up for joyrides each week, how does one get in on that action?

I was also wondering about the Southern flights. Usually by this time it has been flown 3 or 4 times. Those flights were not part of the Natural History Survey and were out of DNR's budget. I bet they quietly dropped them and hired another Human Resources officer.

I was told by a good source that the plane was down for a couple weeks but I don't know what the deal is now.

I'm not sure if this current pilot is new, but they are apparently waiting on his "low level clearance " to go thru.
Be patient, it ain't a conspiracy.

This state is so jacked up.
I always found those numbers to be interesting but generally took them with a grain of salt. I also thought it was funny watching other hunters chase these paper birds around the state. I guess if you want to know what around you will have to burn some gas and get in some wind shield time.

I emailed yetter last night and he wrote back this morning. He told me that he is not doing the surveys down my way. He said “I dunno what is up with the IDNRs webpage. I fly the Illinois and Mississippi rivers, and will be flying them today.” He told me to contact Randy Smith and see what is going on. I know the plane has flown three out of the past four weeks on Tuesday’s because I have seen it personally. I was hunting Tuesday this week when he flew over. Waved my hat at him on the flyover
